Adaptive Snowsports Instructor

A part-time seasonal position, the Adaptive Snowsports Instructor is primarily responsible for the one-on-one ski instruction for all students with a wide range of abilities and skills.


Ski School Front Desk Staff

The Front Desk Staff position requires a friendly, organized individual with exceptional communication skills, as they will be communicating with guests, seasonal ski instructor staff, volunteers, Higher Ground participants, full-time staff and Sun Valley employees.


CRU Program Manager

The CRU Program manager will be primarily responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of Community Resiliency Unit (CRU) day and multi day events for veterans and first responders in Idaho and the surrounding region. The ideal candidate will be based in Idaho and will be organized and take initiative to offer programs that provide adventure support and belonging to those participating. This is a full-time year-round position.

What We Offer

Higher Ground offers seasonal internship opportunities across all our programming areas. If interested in therapeutic recreation, group and individual therapeutic methods, working with individuals with disabilities, or the nonprofit sphere, this organization will provide a unique environment to develop your skills.

Recreational Skills

The ideal intern candidate will have experience in some of the following: skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, snowshoeing, Nordic skiing, rafting, cycling, fishing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, swimming, and rock climbing.

Ideal Candidates

We are seeking individuals who are highly motivated, organized, and have exceptional verbal and written communication skills. There are plenty of opportunities to help others within Higher Ground. For those who are pursuing their therapeutic recreation degree, we follow the ATRA standards of practice and NCTRC internship guidelines.

Application Deadllines

Winter/Spring – September 15
Summer – January 15
Fall (occasionally offered) – March 30

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, but must be received by the deadline for the timeframe of interest. Exceptions to the typical internship timeframe will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please be clear about your preferred timeframe in your letter of interest.
